A Coronado Comeback: Lauren Wilson’s Return To Competitive Sailing

When I decided to go all in on my Olympic sailing dream, I had no idea how many people would rally behind me. This feature from Coronado Eagle/Journal captures the heart of my journey — from growing up sailing in Glorietta Bay, to returning to competition after 20 years, to chasing a spot at the LA 2028 Games with my kids cheering me on. I'm so grateful to share this chapter with the community that helped shape me.

Lauren Wilson hikes the boat flat after completing a tack in her ILCA 6 sailboat.

I just thought, ‘Why not me?’ I don’t want to look back in four years and regret not trying,” Wilson said. “I want to show my kids what it looks like to go after a dream—even when it’s hard, even when it’s late.
