Chasing the Olympics at 42: Featured in Latitude 38 Magazine (Print Edition)
I’m honored to be featured in the May 2026 print edition of Latitude 38, one of the most respected voices in West Coast sailing.
Written by Fritz Baldauf, the piece highlights a reality that doesn’t often get talked about in sport:
In most sports, athletes reach their peak in their late 20s and mid 30s—and it’s all downhill from there.
And then it flips that assumption on its head. At 42, as a mother of two, I’m actively training and competing in the ILCA 6 class with the goal of qualifying for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Highlights from the feature:
Returning to elite-level sailing after nearly two decades away
Competing in the ILCA 6 fleet against top national and international athletes
The physical and mental demands of high-performance sailing at this stage of life
Balancing training, travel, and competition alongside family and career
What makes this feature especially meaningful is that it’s not framed as a novelty—it’s framed as a serious campaign.
Because this isn’t about defying age for the sake of it. It’s about what happens when experience, perspective, and drive come together at the right moment.
This is what a second wind looks like.
